For a basic understanding of the science behind radiowave therapy, see the FAQs. For a list of terms commonly bandied about when discussing cancer and alternate treatments, see the Glossary. Media releases and other audio-visual material can be found by clicking on Videos.

Places to visit for further information
(A list in progress)

I currently have a relative forest of paper in front of me, covered in science and references relating to radiowave treatment. I've added some links to the below list which may provide some further reading for those who are interested. Some documents are not currently available online, so when I get a chance I'll type them up and link to them via the website. If anyone comes across anything else of interest, please post a link in the guestbook (here), or email to Jenny. Among the list are names of reports or documents that can be found via a search engine or in your local library.

'Don't our real stories count?', by Ray Martin

It was a ‘blue-ribbon day’ for the big drug companies. Chemotherapy shares were bullish.

It turns out Dr John Holt- the medical miracle worker from Perth- has been misleading cancer sufferers with his alternate therapy. For more than 30 years.

Well, that’s what the NHMRC- the major research mob in medicine- believe. It’s what they concluded after a year ‘examining’ John Holt’s controversial 434 MHz radio-wave therapy.

‘Go back to the chemo,’ was their oblique conclusion, ‘Holt’s been wrong all along’.

Tony Abbott, the Federal Health Minister, stopped short of calling the highly qualified surgeon a quack or a charlatan. In fact, Abbott insisted he was neither.

So what is he? The NHMRC certainly concluded that he’s been sadly, badly misleading the most vulnerable sufferers and their families. They recommended that the Minister think about cutting off Medicare benefits from those desperados who go to his clinic for help.

They certainly advised that the media, presumably wayward, irresponsible types like me- should be kept under close Government scrutiny. Just like in a healthy dictatorship- censure and muzzle the press.

So what dastardly deeds has this former West Australian State Director of Cancer Research been up to? Well, 80-year-old John Holt has been telling certain cancer sufferers that he might be able to cure their deadly disease. No promises, just a learned opinion.

And he has cured them. Dr Holt has fixed dozens of cancer patients, who had been told by their specialists and oncologists to go home and die. Nothing more could be done for them.

I know, because I’ve spoken to these people. Maybe 50 Aussies- from professors to physicists, from housewives to headmasters. Here a town clerk, there a long-distance truckie. By their thousands, they came to his clinic in suburban Perth, most often on their last legs, having tried conventional treatments. Holt was their last gasp.

Thirty years later they are still alive. Twenty years later. Ten years. But the expert panel didn’t want to talk to them. Anecdotal evidence was not acceptable. Funny about that. Your family GP will always say, ‘you know your body best’. Not when it comes to cancer, apparently. The experts know best.

Funny about that, too. So much arrogant certitude from the experts, yet cancer continues to grow as the biggest killer of Australians.

Claude, the West Perth high school principal who, thanks to Dr Holt, recovered from stomach tumours 30 years ago, apparently doesn’t count. The expert panel didn’t bother about talking to him.

The fact that 15 years ago, with Dr Holt’s treatment, Eva beat the scourge of mesothelioma- an incurable cancer- is also apparently irrelevant.

Elvina was given six weeks to live, after bone cancer, after having her leg amputated, when she was hit with ‘a cluster’ of cancers. Elvina was still a teenager. That’s seven years ago, since Dr. Holt intervened. She testified briefly, but was asked nothing. Nothing about her MRI’s, her prognosis, her brilliant smile.

There’s the 11-year-old girl from Griffith, sent to Dr Holt by Charlie Teo. Charlie is one of the truly great brain specialists in the world today. He’d removed a brain tumour, it had returned and Dr Teo could do no more. Four years later, that little girl is alive and well. The only side effects she suffers are from the radical chemotherapy she undertook before she saw Dr Holt.

Why is anecdotal evidence sought, and admitted, in a court of law (and in life) but ignored in medicine?

Everybody ignored Professor Barry Marshall, when he said that stomach ulcers were a disease, and had little to do with stress. So, he swallowed a culture of germs to prove noisy disbelievers wrong. Marshall has now been awarded the Nobel Prize.

Professor Graeme Clark got the same treatment 40 years ago when he suggested the cochlear implant for deaf people. Today, 60,000 formerly dead people can hear, because Clark persevered with his marvelous, alternate theory.

John Holt, medical prodigy, has devoted a lifetime to helping cancer sufferers. He cried the other day.

‘What I fear now’, lamented Mark Holt, his youngest son, a GP and researcher, ‘is that some scientist in 50 years will pick up John Holt’s work, document it and win the Nobel Prize for medicine.’
